Rollerblading around Zalog and Cerklje

My first rollerblading trip took me from Zalog through the villages along the peaceful country roads below Mt. Krvavec to Cerklje and back to a nearby pond. The weather was great: sunny and warm, and I only wished there were puffy white clouds in the sky to make it even more picturesque. :) All in all, good exercise combined with some cool photos made for a great Friday afternoon.

Freshly ploughed fields

Mt. Kočna and Grintovec are still snow-capped while the valley is already green and in bloom.

Fields full of dandelions

I have to say this was a great beginning of the rollerblading season! :)

Spring skiing on Rogla and Krvavec

The abnormal temperatures in the past week have caused for the last snowy slopes to melt. Up to 26 degrees C at lower altitudes! I still tried my luck skiing, first on Rogla, and on Krvavec a few days later. The skiing was quite good on Rogla until 11 a.m., but Krvavec was already disastrous at 8 a.m. The snow, what was left of it, was so soft and slushy it was impossible to ski. Well, at least we got some fresh air. :)

Sunny slopes of Rogla:

Going up with the T-bar was ridiculous. :)

Krvavec last Friday:

The mountain is covered with hellebores. Spring is definitely here.

The skiing season may not be completely over for me though. :)

Skiing on Krvavec

This winter hasn't been the best for avid skiers. It's been too warm and by mid-March almost all Slovenian ski slopes are out of snow! Well, Krvavec still has some and I decided to take advantage of probably one of the last opportunities this winter to ski. I did manage to ski for six hours, the last of which was more like water-skiing :), but nevertheless, it was an enjoyable, sunny, glorious day!

In the morning, when the shadows were still long:
Don't you just love the blue shade of snow? :)

Even in the morning, the valley below was smoggy:

Woohoo, we're above Triglav!

Fog and frost on Mt. Krvavec

The first December Sunday was quite miserable: cloudy and gloomy. I didn't kick myself out of the apartment until 1:30pm, but the trip I had decided to take was worth every minute of it. Mt. Krvavec is a popular ski resort in the winter and a popular hiking destination. There was a lot of fog and a lot of frost.

The rest of the photos are here.
